EP 54: Reclaim Your Self Worth with this Guided Meditation

Hello and welcome back to Breathe More! Today, I'm diving into a topic that's often overlooked yet profoundly transformative: self-worth. We'll explore the essence of self-worth, how it differs from self-love, and why it's crucial for a fulfilling life. Plus, I'll touch on my Summer of Self-Love Challenge, which includes a guided meditation designed to open your heart and elevate your self-worth.

So, what exactly is self-worth, and how is it different from self-love? Self-worth is the belief you hold about your own value and worthiness as a person. It's an internal validation, independent of external opinions from partners, friends, family, or society. In contrast, self-love involves nurturing yourself with kindness, compassion, and respect. While self-love is about actions and feelings, self-worth is about beliefs and perceptions.

Lacking self-worth can have a ripple effect on various aspects of your life. When you don't believe in your inherent value, you might find yourself overextending, constantly giving your time and energy to others while neglecting your own needs. This imbalance can lead to burnout, physical exhaustion, and even resentment.

Low self-worth often manifests as feelings of inadequacy and low self-esteem. These feelings can negatively impact your relationships, career, and even your financial situation. If you don't see your own value, it's challenging for others, including employers, to recognize it either. You might end up shrinking, not speaking up, or allowing yourself to be taken advantage of, leading to further dissatisfaction and unhappiness.

The amount of self-worth you possess also affects your relationships and the kind of people you attract into your life. If you don't respect or value yourself, it's unfair to expect others to do so. Energetically, people can sense your level of self-worth. Those with strong boundaries, like me, often experience healthier interactions because they project an aura that says, "I am not open to being taken advantage of."

I want to emphasize that this isn't about blaming victims of mistreatment but rather about recognizing the control we have over how we show up in our lives and what we allow. Setting boundaries is essential. If you've always over-delivered and never said "no," people will continue to expect that from you. It's time to change that narrative.

The summer season, with its themes of renewal and growth, is the perfect time to start setting boundaries and embracing your self-worth. Yes, it might feel uncomfortable initially because it's a new way of being. People might be confused or challenge your new boundaries, but that's okay. It's a sign that you're stepping into a new, more authentic version of yourself.

My Summer of Self-Love Challenge includes five practices designed to help you cultivate more self-love and self-worth. Today, I'll share one of these practices: a heart-opening meditation. This meditation helps you connect with your heart, recognize your own worth, and align your energy with how you want to be treated and how you want to experience life.

Find a comfortable place to sit or lie down. If you're able to close your eyes, do so now. Take a deep breath in, and as you exhale, allow your body to relax. Focus on your heart, feeling its rhythm, and let your breath flow naturally. Imagine a warm, glowing light surrounding your heart, filling you with a sense of peace and worthiness.

Repeat silently or aloud: "I am worthy. I am valuable. I deserve love and respect." Let these affirmations sink into your heart, embracing the truth of your inherent worth. Stay in this space for as long as you need, allowing the light to grow and expand, radiating self-worth and love throughout your entire being.
