Happy Almost Spring!
All around us we can see signs of spring. Bright green grass covering the mountains, yellow flowers dancing with the wind, trees giving birth to baby leaves. While all of this shows rebirth and new beginnings, for some of us it might bring up a little anxiety and make us feel like "time is flying by.” Stop, take a deep breath, hold for 5 seconds, and now exhale. Repeat until you feel calm and realize it’s also the perfect time to stop and reflect on the strides you’ve made so far. Celebrate all the progress you’ve made, big and small. And ask yourself if you are on track to meet your goals for this year? Or maybe you’ve come across some challenges that have made you take a pause?
As a way to support you on the transition into spring, I wanted this month’s evening class to focus on “Spring Clearing.” We’re going to dig deeper and see if there’s anything that’s still holding us back. Do you have lingering fear? A lack of confidence? Anxiety from all the uncertainty in our world? Whatever it is we’re going to breathe it out this Sunday March 5. If you can’t make it, I also have two more special events this month. The extremely popular Full Moon Meditation class had 45 attendees this last month! Thank YOU for all of your support. We’ve been asked to offer this class twice a month, so March 27 we will be doing a New Moon Meditation class. Hope to see you at one of them (if not both)!
One of my goals for 2017 is to team up with a non-profit and share breathwork with their clients. Within a month of setting this goal, I met with WeSpark, a non-profit that offers free programs to cancer patients, their caretakers, and cancer survivors to improve their quality of life. And I’m happy to share that March 11 will be my first class at WeSpark. We are so excited to offer breathwork as a way for their patients to release some of the physical and emotional stress they have in their life. If you know anyone suffering from cancer, please let them know about WeSpark and their free programs.
Lastly, I want to thank all of you for spreading the word about breathwork. I am so grateful for your shares on social media and referrals. Thank you for your dedication to your practice and for trusting me in guiding you through this process. I always love to hear from you! Let me know how breathwork has helped you.
Wishing you a beautiful month.
Much Love, Ana
Crystal of the Month:
Amethyst is the first type of crystal I started using in class. Not only is it a beautiful stone, but it also helps to reduce stress, soothes irritability, balances mood swings, dispels anger, rage, fear and anxiety. Alleviates sadness and grief, and dissolves negativity.
Album Obsession:
My current album obsession (along with every KCRW DJ) is Jardín by Gabriel Garzón-Montano. You've heard almost every song from this album on my different playlists. I love his fun lyrics and funky, jazzy tunes that inspire having a dance party all by yourself in front of a mirror.
Here are last month's playlist: Self-Care
BOOK OF THE MONTH:
Cheryl Strayed is one of my favorite authors. Her writing is so raw and honest. Tiny Beautiful Things is another example on how she's not afraid of being vulnerable and gives advice to you like your most honest and caring best friend. (I have read many of her passages in class.)
Private Breathwork Sessions:
Every time you have a private breathwork session, you are surprised by what you just experienced. You are also surprised that it's so much more intense than breathing in a group setting. And you usually say you want a private session everyday! :) For those of you who haven't had a private session, it's an hour long breathwork and reiki session that's customized for YOU. We'll work on whatever you need help with and you'll leave feeling relaxed and with clarity. Book your session here.
