Spring Renewal: Breathwork Practices to Embrace New Beginnings

Sacred Lessons Men's Healing Circle in LA

There’s something magical about spring. It holds the energy of possibility—a gentle but powerful invitation to begin again. And just like the flowers pushing through the soil and the longer days soaking up more light, our bodies and spirits crave that same renewal.

This is where breathwork comes in.

In this blog post, I’m sharing my favorite breathwork practices for spring renewal and how this intentional form of breathing can help you release the old, make space for the new, and align with the energy of fresh starts.

Why Spring Is the Season of the Nervous System

As a breathwork guide, I always pay attention to how the seasons affect our nervous systems. After a long, dark winter, our bodies often carry residual heaviness, fatigue, and emotional weight we haven’t fully processed.

Spring is nature’s way of reminding us to shake that off.

Energetically, spring is the perfect time to activate your breath to:

  • Clear stuck energy

  • Cultivate clarity and vitality

  • Reconnect to your desires and direction

  • Support emotional release and nervous system reset

Through intentional breathwork practices for spring renewal, you can literally breathe life back into yourself.

The Power of Breathwork for New Beginnings

One of the most powerful lessons I’ve learned through my own healing is this:

You can’t think your way into a new chapter.

You have to feel your way there.

And your breath is the bridge between where you are now and where you want to go.

Breathwork activates the parasympathetic nervous system, signaling to your body that it’s safe to relax and expand. It helps quiet the overthinking mind and opens up the intuitive part of yourself that already knows what needs to come next.

Whether you’re letting go of old patterns, grieving what didn’t work, or stepping into something unfamiliar, your breath can hold and move it all.

Breathwork Practices for Spring Renewal

Here are three simple but powerful breathwork practices to support your spring transition:

1. The Clearing Breath

Use this breath when you feel weighed down or foggy.

How to try it:

  • Inhale through your nose for a count of 4

  • Hold for 4

  • Exhale through your mouth with a deep sigh

  • Repeat for 2–3 minutes

Why it works: This resets your nervous system and signals safety to the body. The sigh physically releases tension while the breath pattern restores balance.

2. Three-Part Active Breath

This is the core breathwork pattern I teach in sessions. It’s activating, emotional, and deeply cleansing.

How to try it:

  • Inhale through the mouth into the belly

  • Inhale again into the chest

  • Exhale through the mouth

  • Keep this cycle going for 8–10 minutes, then rest

Why it works: This breath moves stuck energy, opens your heart, and helps release buried emotions. It’s a powerful reset that aligns you with your inner clarity.

3. Spring Intention Breath

Once you’ve cleared space, breathe into your vision for the months ahead.

How to try it:

  • Sit or lie down comfortably

  • Inhale gently through your nose while imagining your new beginning unfolding

  • Exhale slowly and visualize letting go of old habits or fears

  • Repeat while focusing on your chosen intention (e.g., "I welcome growth," "I am safe to expand")

Why it works: Breath paired with intention strengthens the connection between your conscious desires and your body’s energy field.

My Personal Spring Ritual

Every year when spring arrives, I feel the urge to simplify and realign.

I open the windows.

I clean out my closet.

I journal about what I want to call in.

And then I breathe.

This season, I’ve been working with the theme of spaciousness. In my breathwork practice, I’ve been intentionally releasing old beliefs that kept me in a state of over-functioning. I’ve been deepening into the truth that rest, creativity, and alignment are not luxuries—they are requirements for my next level.

That’s the beauty of breathwork. It doesn’t just help you feel better in the moment. It helps you remember who you are becoming.

Clients Are Feeling the Shift Too

This spring, in both my private sessions and group classes, a clear theme is emerging:

We’re ready to grow—but not in the old ways.

Clients are letting go of:

  • Overcommitting

  • People-pleasing

  • Old stories that say success must come through struggle

And they’re calling in:

  • Aligned opportunities

  • New creative visions

  • Greater emotional freedom

And it all begins with the breath.
